The Path: Will to tri

September 19, 2010.

On August 19th C started her first day of school and I had no idea what to do with myself.

I had great peace that she was in the perfect place but felt like I had lost my identity.  Still processing the events of the first part of the year I spent each day trying to find a new groove.  It would be a Sunday while sitting at this stoplight on the way to church that

traffic would be held up while bicyclists came flying through the intersection on the last

leg of a their Ironman bike distance.  The group that was coming through at that particular

moment were women around my age who had already finished their 1.2 mile swim and

biked 50 of other their 56 mile distance over the hills of the High Road.  To say I was inspired was an understatement!  I could do this! I want to do this!  I started calculating

the process and set myself on a goal with next year's race on my calendar.

THE FIRST TRI

September 18, 2011.

A half Ironman was a pretty big challenge since I had no marathon or triathlon training but, I was pretty determined.  6 months into the training my foot was positioned in just the wrong spot while grooming a horse and it got partially smashed.  I continued to train letting the foot heal but thought I might need to recalibrate the plan...

wetsuit, swim cap, sand, timing chip
hill, sunny, cars, trees
green jacket, mountain bike, rock ledge, road
pink shoes, pink jacket, green dress, red dress, bike shorts, mat

THE SECOND TRI

September 23, 2012.

This year was a golden year for me.  We would celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and  that C was doing well in school.  I had worked through a lot of the emotional debris field that had left me in "lost" mode for the years prior.

Work hard toward your goals, press in and make it happen with every fiber of your being and take the wins when they come.

Overwhelmed by God's heart for me…I went out to the website and watched the video of the 2013 race in Milwaukee…quietly whispering "oh my gosh"… the conversation I had with The Lord next became a little more real...
